Tenel Ka Djo boots

These boots took a whopping 80 hours to make. They started off as cheap $30 fabric boots in a clearance section. A whole hide of leather later, they were boots and spats/shinguards. The spats are kept firm by way of wonderflex and the top lips are plastic. The spikes are super sculpey and the heel and extra scales are epoxy sculpt. I painted everything with acrylic paint and gave them shiny top coats.

The design was pretty much all me, which is what I'm most proud of. Her boots were just drawn as brown flats with spats. I wanted heels because lord knows it makes one's butt look better in pictures haha. So I decided to start designing them as though they were heels and they took off. They were originally going to be styled much like my pauldrons were, but then I came up with that talon idea and I knew that's what I had to do. I used some of my anatomical knowledge from my studies in paleontology and totally went to town with these boots.


And to preemptively answer your questions:
1) Yes, they're uncomfortable
2) Yes, they're hard to walk in
3) I will reiterate that yes they hurt like a bitch. I regret nothing.
4) I gave her heels because if jedi can jump from a moving vehicle on coruscant and pull star destroyers out of space...they can fight in heels. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. 0_^


Also, I'd like to credit SithCamaro for helping me figure out how to cover boots. He has a great tutorial online on how to cover shoes, and he helped me adapt them to boots. (He also was an extra 2 hands when I needed getting the leather glued on without wrinkles haha!) And I did not do any of the stitching, I brought them to a cobbler for that. Glad I did, apparently it broke 5 needles to do it--I would have never managed. >.<
